As small business owners, it’s easy to get lost in the pressures of our own businesses, right?
We’re so committed to what we’re working on day after day, monitoring our own success, often getting overwhelmed by the sheer volume of tasks to accomplish, that it’s easy to forget that there’s all sorts of inspiration and motivation available to us right outside the “walls” of our own business.
I’m Amy Birks, The Strategy Ninja, and I always see the shortest distance between two points. This allows me to help my clients grow their businesses very, VERY quickly, and today I’ve got a success story to share about one of my clients and a recent product launch I helped her execute.

OK, I know that going from “idea” to $42,000 in revenue in two weeks is a little hard to believe, but marketing automation really is that powerful, and below I describe how it worked for me with this client.
Start With the End in Mind
My clients will tell you that this is the most commonly uttered phrase in my repertoire, but that’s because it’s so critical to the success of any project, especially a launch.
On day one, this client and I set clear, attainable goals to go after for this product and those goals remained our North Star throughout the launch lifecycle.
The goals:
- Double list size
- Sell 150 memberships into the online program
Add Value
By day three we started giving away a “taste” of my client’s services in targeted ways to anyone who needed them as a means to add value, spread goodwill and build brand recognition.
It truly was all about being of service and adding value for people who needed it. This tactic brings with it a terrific side benefit of drawing a lot of attention to the brand, so we were able to more than triple her list size in about five days. Goal #1 accomplished!
Leverage Marketing Automation
Once we had a captive audience filled with people who we already knew really needed her services — I call those ideal clients — we capitalized on the opportunity to engage them via email. This is when the rubber really meets the road.
We crafted a series of emails to send to her list over the next eight days that led her ideal clients on a journey to know, love and trust her.
We wove in personal stories, technical details about how she does what she does, and all the while continued to add real value for them throughout.
In the end, when it came time to send that “the cart is open!” email, this group was completely engaged and almost 50% of them clicked that “buy now” button.
50%! That’s a huge conversion rate, and all because we knew how to leverage the power of email marketing effectively.
That 50% conversion equated to 141 people purchasing a $297 product, and that math works out to be — you guessed it — $42,000. From day one (set a goal) to day fifteen (cart is closed), $42,000 in revenue in my client’s pocket.
This is how powerful email marketing can be. When used effectively, amazing things can happen in your business and quickly.
